‘Hello!’   Fresh New Look for Spring

'Hello!' Geranium Pink - Ink & Watercolour
‘Hello!’    Geranium, Pink – Ink & Watercolour

I want to introduce you to my fresh new updated blog. I hope you will find it a calm refuge in the midst of life’s turmoil. I thought my saucy, perky geranium sketch was just the image to convey the first day of Spring, 2014.

This format should be easier to navigate. My Menu ‘categories’ are clearly displayed across the top of each page, as well as on the right sidebar.

I hope you enjoy my art throughout the posts, as well as my writing and poetry – see below.

And please, don’t hesitate to ‘follow’, ‘like’ or comment. Thanks for visiting.

ABOUT ME

Thank you for landing here on my writing and art blog. Enjoy meandering among my stories, my thoughts, foibles and watercolours. They offer insights into this writer, artist, nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, skeptic, lover of music, beauty, colour and, most importantly, a lover of living this life on this amazing planet with all its inevitable good and bad, sadness and happiness, ebbs and flows.

“Literature had told him that everything had happened before, everything had been endured before, and so everything could be endured again.”

AARON LATHAM: ‘Orchids for Mother’ 1977

MY MENU OFFERS THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES

NOVEL . “GOOD BLOOD” Chapters . CREATIVE NONFICTION

A series of stories, primarily, but not exclusively, about women – ordinary women, living extraordinary lives. There are tales about birth and death, immigration and war, marriage and divorce, illness and adversity, suicide and triumph. These poignant stories inspire and teach us that we are all capable of overcoming hardship with strength and good humour.

MEMOIR .  “DECADES”, POETRY

A collection of my POETRY – spontaneous eruptions from my heart.                                                                                                                                      “DECADES” ~ SHORT STORIES & POSTS that are sometimes saucy and irreverent, factual and embarrassing, ridiculous and sad.        QUOTATIONS that have impacted me.                                                                                                                                                                                                Together they constitute my MEMOIR … snippets of my life, IN THE MOMENT and THROUGH THE DECADES.

WORKSHOPS . ZENTANGLE & GENEALOGY .

HOST a GENEALOGY WORKSHOP or Home Party. Invite friends, family, neighbours, co-workers and learn how to preserve your ancestry, leaving an important legacy for your children, grandchildren, parents and siblings. Learn easy steps to achieve your goals.                                             Remember, your knowledge of your parents, grandparents, even great-grandparents dies with you … a motivating thought that worked for me.

Or, HOST a ZENTANGLE WORKSHOP or Home Party. This art genre is easy to learn, relaxing, even meditative, and so much fun.

WRITING & BLOGGING . TIPS

Aside from writing, two of my passions are orchids, painting in watercolour & acrylic, and genealogy. In the image above, are my deep, rich, velvety, fuchsia orchids  – some miniature ones are thriving in my terrariums. On the wall, my watercolour magnolias offer a complimentary backdrop.

I am combining two of those passions conducting Art (Zentangles) and Genealogy Workshops, thus sharing the delight and sense of accomplishment with others.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Needed to draft you the little note to say thank you as before for your great guidelines you’ve shared on this page. This is quite surprisingly generous of people like you to convey unreservedly all that a number of people could have distributed as an electronic book to help make some dough for their own end, most importantly considering the fact that you might have done it in the event you desired. Those strategies likewise served as a good way to fully grasp other individuals have the same zeal much like my own to know the truth much more around this matter. I’m sure there are many more enjoyable times up front for individuals who scan your blog.

    1. Bobbii, a huge thank you (much belated) for your comments. I was very new to blogging when you commented. I too was thrilled to see the blogging guidelines, so I re-posted them – just paying it forward. I hope you will pop back here occasionally to see what is new – many more posts & trying out a new theme. Thanks again.

  2. Linda, you are a most gifted artist and writer – and I am lucky enough to have one of your beautiful watercolours gracing my front hall! It is wonderful to follow your writing and to discover your ‘take” on living in our late 60’s! You are a a most talented and remarkable woman.

    1. Gill, I so appreciate your comments. I bit loving and excessive but that is what friends are for. Thanks hon. Keep reading, and I will be back to Waterloo to see you soon.

  3. When I read your thoughts and stories, I feel like I am reading about myself! You have a wonderful fluency with words and an ability to put your reflective thoughts into print. I envy your creativity and your gifts.
